Grades are not good enough? It's not the end of the world.

If you are here because you could not score really well in your examinations, then you are in the right place. Let’s not talk about why you did not put in enough efforts or why couldn’t perform well in exams because what’s done is done and there is no way for us to change what’s gone by.

Let’s march forward. C'mon!

Just know that your grades do not define and it is ok if you did not score the marks you aimed for. Now, there is nothing we can do about the grades or the past. There is but one way now - the way forward.

Stop crying and start planning. It's much more practical.

Since your grades are not what you aimed, getting into your dream university might be quite difficult now. However, it does not mean that you must just give up on your dreams. That is never an option. Instead of crying over your grades, you should start planning towards building your future. There is not much time left for you to while around. First, make a list of options that are available to you and see what best fits you.

Retake the exam if you can, but remember to study harder (or smarter).

Guilty! or not...
If you think you have the time and will to retake your exam, then do not think twice. This time, however, work harder than you did last time. Figure out which type of learner you are, and study smart. Get help from classmates or lecturers for study tips. Keep in mind that you are only retaking the examination so that you can get into a better university.

Have you considered a foundation programme?

If retaking the exam is not an option for you, then you must consider other options like finding an alternative course. You could also consider taking up a foundation course. A foundation course prepares students for an undergraduate programme. These are usually designed for international students and for those who do not meet the entry requirements for the specific course.

Or how about a pathway programme?

You could consider a pathway programme. A pathway course is taken before a student enrols in a universities . Taking up a pathway course offers the student the opportunity to get into a better university. Pathway programmes offer easy transitions between courses at different levels. Getting into a pathway programme is easier than getting into a university. You can initially start with a pathway course and eventually transfer to a university.
For instance, Monash College's pathway courses are designed to help international students get into a degree of their choice. These pathway programmes guarantee a place at Monash University for international students. With the diploma programmes, students can get a direct pathway to Monash University into the second year after completing the one year programme. Monash Colleges offers diploma programmes in Art, Design, Architecture, Business, Engineering, Education, Information Technology and Science.

Time to be smart and decisive.

What you choose to study after your A-level has a huge impact on your future. Therefore, make sure that whatever you choose to study aligns with your passion. Take your time to understand where your interest truly lies. Switching courses or careers is not impossible, but you can save a lot of time by making the right decision at the right time.

This is not the end. It's a new beginning.
